Workshop with "Wandering Objects" in Kiruna

Wlecome to take part in the project Wandering Objects, which came to life in a collaboration between university students from Child Culture Design on HDK-Valand, and three schools in Kiruna. The students are on site between 13.00-18.00 and welcome everyone to meet and participate in creative activities. Join the students at a do-it-yourself workshop, materials will be provided for creating exploration tools and the groups are present to help and will give tours of their project.

14.30-14.45: Welcome to the presentation of Wandering Objects and Andan together with the students from Child Culture Design and the schools from Kiruna.
14.45-16.00: Join the students in workshops to create, discover and explore!
Location: the green area across the street from the Kiruna’s new city square.

Wandering Objects is an interactive play sculpture that investigates how the built environment can make space for children and young people to meet and explore. The students have contributed with their visions of what the concept of “exploration” is for them.

The project is the result of a collaboration between children from the schools Högalid, Sameskolan and Thoren Framtid skolor in Kiruna and the master students from Child Culture Design on the University of Gothenburg, HDK-Valand - Academy of Art and Design.

Wandering Objects is shown as part of Luleåbiennalen 2024 through the project I Händelsernas Centrum, where experiences are created and provide concrete examples of how culture and art impact our living environments, experiences of places, and our well-being amidst ongoing and imminent changes. I Händelsernas Centrum is co-funded by the European Union and carried out with support from the Swedish Board of Agriculture, and Leader Tornedalen, LKAB and Kiruna kommun.
