The decorated milk shelf exhibited in Havremagasinet as part of Luleåbiennalen 2022 from Aunesgården has a far-reaching history. The shelf itself, with its many moulds highlights everyday objects and practical utensils. Its displays a skilled food craft that has made use of scarce resources and gives insight to the lives that have been lived in the area around Övertorneå.
The objects in the shelf, which were once used for people’s everyday chores, demonstrate the artisanal expertise that was necessary for preserving foodstuffs before the introduction of modern conveniences we have come to take for granted. In the film AITTA, Per Huuva talks about this food craft.
