LB°24 — Program
Craft talks with friends! At Galleri Syster we have invited several of our new biennial friends to create a display of festival exhibitions and projects that are taking place in other sites across Norrbotten during the biennial.
The event opens with a welcoming speech by Anja Örn, artist and founder of Galleri Syster, followed by a presentation by Onkar Kular and Christina Zetterlund, curators of the Luleå Biennial 2022, about the biennial’s three themes: Snow and Ice, Extractivism and Crafting Beyond the Wastelands.
After, we are introduced to among others Berit Kristine Andersen Guvsám, Gunvor Guttorm, and Laila Susanna Kuhmunen who are participating in the biennial with the exhibition Gulahallan ja Birgen. The exhibition is the product of a two-year collaboration within AIDA, or Arctic Indigenous Arts and Design Archives – an archive consisting of materials taken from the practices of different craftspeople. For this exhibition, Berit Kristine Andersen Guvsám, Gunvor Guttorm, and Laila Susanna Kuhmunen have engaged in dialogue with the materials compiled within the archive. A film in which they reflect on this process will be shown at the Luleå Biennial.
