Every year, the Luleå ice road offers a unique expansion of the cityscape as roads are prepared on the ice, reaching from Norra Hamn all the way to Gråsjälören, with extensions towards Bergnäset and Mjölkudden.
The length of the ice road differs a little every year, but usually it reaches around 10 kilometres. The road opens as soon as the ice is thick enough, which is usually around the end of December. Along the road you can find resting stops with communal firepits and seating, enclosed in wind shelters.
