Pontusbadet

With its large windows looking out and over Lulefjärden, Pontusbadet was built in 1957 as one of the most modern bathhouses in Sweden of its time.

Facilities for swimming, sports and leisure were part of the welfare state development with Pontusbadet acting as an emblem of the new spirit of the time. Architects Ericson, Gynnerstedt and Ågren designed the bathhouse as an all-purpose health centre for people to swim and meet and took great care in the building’s details, materials, and atmosphere.
