LB°18 — Program
ARKIVIn Swedish Haparanda and Finnish Tornio exists a lively on-going cross-border collaboration between Haparanda City Cultural Department and Aine Art Museum. Together with the Luleå Biennial 2022 they organized a residency for artist Rosa Tolnov Clausen where she could set up her Weaving Kiosk – a format inspired by Nordic kiosk culture. In her presentation, Rosa Tolnov Clausen will tell us about the Weaving Kiosk.
A kiosk is usually located on street level, making it easy for visitors to access the space. The Weaving Kiosk is an open space which people passing by can enter spontaneously to try out weaving. It also welcomes skilled practitioners who are given an opportunity to weave in a new venue and experience an environment where they can learn and share their knowledge with others.
Rosa Tolnov Clausen, PhD candidate in Craft at University of Gothenburg, is a textile designer working in the borderlands between craft and design. She often develops physical spaces which emphasize craft and crafting, and uses craft as a catalyst for physical, social and creative interactions.
Haparanda City Culture Department promotes a dynamic cultural environment with inclusivity as its leading principle. They manage the city’s public art and cultural heritage.
Aine Art Museum exhibits and manages a collection primarily consisting of contemporary art, with a specific focus on artworks from northern Finland. The museum exhibits works from the collection as well as producing temporary exhibitions, organizing workshops and lectures.
The presentation will be in English and is part of the seminar Earthed Imagination.
