LB°13 — Artists
ARKIVNina Kurtela (b. 1981 in Croatia), is an artist based in Croatia and Germany.
This piece is a video-event-work that activates and documents a five-month-long durational performance. Over this period of time I established a daily practice of visiting and witnessing the changes as a warehouse was transformed into a dance institution. During this period I took around 200 portraits a day from exactly the same position, placing myself in the middle of the site. Therefore the piece takes shape as a case study of my own individual encounter with the radical transformations of social structures and operative models within society. The work emerges in the force field of my commitment to the daily execution of presentness in relation to the specific context where this act takes place. The body becomes a statue through the changes of time.
Nina Kurtela is a multidisciplinary artist from Zagreb in Croatia, based in Germany. Her conceptual work is often site-specific. She uses situations from everyday life and places them into new contexts in order to make them visible and to expand their meaning. In an attempt to erase the distinction between the artist and the audience, her work questions the exclusiveness of art.
