Thomas Hämén (b. 1987, Sweden) is an artist from and based in Luleå.

By sampling different waterfalls from digital virtual worlds, waterfalls that have been reduced to from being an indication of life in real nature to a plain aesthetic product, Thomas Hämén is building and animating a constantly flowing waterfall, a space where the visual reconstruction from digital virtual worlds is again taking a physical form. Hämén is interested in authenticity of media and how our need for pleasure is controlled by what we see and wether or not there are basic elements of visual well-being. He is interested in all of the components of our search for pleasure and the process of perception from a kind of physical and social anthropological perspective. In our digital time-age, visual entertainment, pornography and computer games have come to define what pleasure is, and often, it is the visual language that offers the pleasure itself.

Installation with animated videos.
