Hua Kuan Sai (f. 1976, Singapore) is an artist based in the UK and Singapore.

Since graduated from The Slade School of Fine Art, London, in 2007, Hua Kuan Sai has exhibited extensively internationally. His art is realized in a diverse and often unconventional range of media, including installation, sculpture, film, photography and performance. He plays with materials enjoying the process of transforming forms, shapes, or even smells and humidity. He enjoys dismantling, deconstructing and reconstructing materials and objects, as his thoughts often come to him spontaneously during the playful process.

Grown up in the small island country Singapore, it is a lifetime adventure for an inland resident to work with limited spaces, searching for alternative spaces and adapting to fast-changing but self-contained spaces with no escapes. A nothingness can be witnessed in his works, as the physical/nonphysical; visual/non-visual form is a statement of his life journey. In his work Bottles and Fans the process of water evaporation allows the tunes not to be static but transferable. The visual and sound experience generated through the playful usage of quotidian objects attempts to stimulate a different way of thinking.
