Brone Neverdauskiene (b. 1977) lives and works in Klapeida, Lithuania. Monika Zaltauskaite (b. 1975) lives and works in Kaunas.
The installation Total Equality focuses on our way of socially "dressing up" in predestined uniforms of social habits, behavior, and ethical dogmas. The social system educates people in a way that a uniform becomes the proof of someone's certain skills. Despite our race or national differences, are we marked by destiny's "label" to become a criminal, looser or successful?
The double standards of democracy tells us on one hand that we are all equal regardless of gender, race, age, religion, sexual orientation or social status, but on the other hand we know that this does not fit reality. People are driven by the human nature to strive for survival and domination of others. We try to avoid the equality at any price by using every advantage we can get to our own benefit. In the work Total Equality motives of skin are composed from photo fragments of different human body parts. One wandering soul to embody yet another body, thus allowing us to experience social transformation in physical sense.
